G. Raymond (Ray) Chang

Dr. G. Raymond Chang is Chair of CI Financial (CI) one of Canada’s three largest investment fund companies; and Chancellor of Ryerson University.
He received an honorary doctorate from Ryerson in 2005 and has been a significant contributor to the University’s School of Continuing Education, which was named the G. Raymond Chang School of Continuing Education in his honour.
Dr. Chang is an active member of the Board of Directors of the Toronto General & Western Hospital Foundation. His generosity allowed for the creation of the Gladstone and Maisie Chang Chair in Teaching of Internal Medicine at the University Health Network, named for his parents. Dr. Chang also established a Fellowship to train West Indian doctors at the University Health Network. Most recently he made an extraordinary gift to the Centre For Addiction and Mental Health – CAMH, in Toronto.
He is also a Governor of the Royal Ontario Museum.
Dr. Chang has also been a generous benefactor of continuing education and young adult learning, particularly of St. George's College, his alma mater high school, in Jamaica, as well as The University of the West Indies.
Through the initiative of Chancellor Chang and former Governor General of Jamaica, Sir Kenneth Hall (former Principal of UWI, Mona), Ryerson University and The University of the West Indies, collaborated on a “ground breaking” distance education program, for nurses in the English speaking Caribbean. Most recently, he funded a chair in family medicine at The University of the West Indies.
In 2007 Dr. Chang received an honorary doctorate from The University of the West Indies.
